Arts, Crafts, and Laughs - Week of Mar. 7th

Even though school is a place for learning, it is also a place to enjoy the arts. Cameron's school hosted an Arts evening complete with pottery, painting, music and puppetry.
Working with the clay was a favorite and then painting that clay was even better!

Miss Sara, Cam's teacher, attended the event to greet and lend assistance and it's easy to see why Cam enjoys her classroom so much.

In the music room, there were drums and instruments everywhere. Even though the room itself was quite noisy, the drums were a very big hit. Cameron and his classmate, Liam, had a great time with the drumsticks and big drums.
And a smaller set, complete with drums, triangle, maracas and cymbals captivated the big boy.

Also captivating Cam's attention was cousin Coco's and her best friend, Shelby. He had such a good time playing with the girls and he certainly enjoyed some sweet kisses.

Rounding out the weekend included a haircut and a trip to McDonald's for a happy meal. Cameron's favorite, the delicious chocolate shake, disappeared in no time.

The happy meal prize was a toy superman. Chris & Jane know that Cam is definitely a Super Boy!

Buddies & Books - Week of Feb. 28th

The interest in certain toys may come and go, but the love of books is something that Cameron has always had. One of his favorites is a very large Disney collection (from the Cronk family!) containing all of the classic movies in storybook form. Cam thinks that some pages are definitely funnier than others. From books to buddies, the week contained some fun-filled playdates. Cam's neighbor, Emma and her sisters stopped over to play games and entertain their buddy. It's easy to see why he likes to hang out with the girls. When Emma comes over, she now indicates that she is there to "Cam-sit" which means that Cameron has the opportunity to play, giggle, and continuously say "more" when Emma does something funny, which is quite often! Will and Cam's godmother, Auntie Jo had a playdate Friday afternoon at the Weatherford household. It seems that Will and Cameron have taken a keen interest in imitating each other. The evening activities included each of them removing as many kleenexes as they could, because apparently, it is very amusing. They also watched part of a movie and dined on some delicious Culver's food and ice cream! Chris & Jane did a little shoe shopping over the weekend and Cam couldn't resist trying on his Dad's shoes. Although Cam's feet are pretty big, he definitely won't be fitting in his Daddy's shoes anytime soon...

Overtime with Grandma - Week of Feb. 21st

The Michigan weather this winter has certainly provided some difficult travel. This week, that actually worked to Cameron's advantage. His Grandma drove in Sunday to avoid the projected snowfall and stayed until Tuesday morning!
Cam and Grandma spent the afternoon making some delicious chocolate chip cookies. Cam did a great deal of taste-testing to be sure they were extra good. Grandma & grandson also spent time looking at a special picture frame hanging on the wall of Cameron's room. He loves to look at the frame containing many beautiful photos of his Grandma.

After such a fun visit, Chris & Jane had to keep the good times moving along. They took Cam out to dinner at Outback Steakhouse. Although he didn't partake in any juicy steaks, he very much enjoyed the cheese fries, penne pasta, and coloring.

Over the weekend, Cam enjoyed a visit from his wonderful godmother, Auntie Jo. She brought him a delicious chocolate shake, knowing it is common favorite they both share.

Saturday evening, Cameron had some playtime with his favorite nighttime "Cam-sitter"- Sarah. The smiles shown here are ones we see every time they're together!

Hearts Overflowing - Week of Feb. 14th

Cam had quite a busy V-day...he brought home a few valentines from his classmates filled with chocolate and candy. Cameron has developed a definite love of sweets, especially chocolate, thanks to his parents...

Monday evening, Cam, Chris & Jane met Auntie Jo and Will for a delicous dining experience at McDonald's, one of the boys' favorite places. This may become an annual experience based upon how much fun Will & Cam had!

The activities continued throughout the week since cousin, Libby, had taken vacation time and flown to Michigan from New York. She brought gifts for the entire family, including an I love New York t-shirt from the Big Apple that Cam proudly wore. Libby and her sister, Coco, played with their cousin as he showed off all of his new skills for Libby.

All of the cousins headed across the street for what appeared to be the last sledding day of the season. With sleds and tubes, everyone ventured down the hill and had a great time!

Many thanks to Libby for spending some precious vacation time with family in Michigan, instead of heading to a warmer climate!
We know you won't be forgetting Elmo's voice any time soon...

Slip, Sliding Away - Week of Feb. 7th

With spring right around the corner (hopefully!), it seemed imperative to take advantage of the ultimate winter wonderland across the street.
This week also included a special visit from one of Cam's favorite cousins, Libby. (Next week's blog to include pics!)

A cavernous ice tunnel was a cool place for Cameron and Megan to hang out. The tunnel stretched to ten feet. Being in the long igloo certainly didn't seem to bother Cam, although it does appear that he thinks the roof may cave in.

The long snow track in the neighbor's back yard makes for fun winter tubing. Although Cam was a little uncertain at first, he rode with Chris in one of the big tubes all the way down the hill.

After Cameron watched Emma ride, he seemed much more relaxed about the entire setup.

It takes lots of energy to be outside playing and the entire family was pretty worn out....except for maybe Cam!

Michigan Blizzard - Week of Jan. 31st

What does 16 inches of snow mean in Michigan? 3 days off of school for Cameron! Tuesday evening was deemed "Blizzard Dinner" when the Weatherford and Raisch family gathered together at Cam's house to enjoy a meal together and watch the swirly white stuff outside.

One of Cameron's favorite playmates is his neighbor, Emma. He is always so happy to see her and she has fun sharing Cam's toys.

Wednesday morning found the area blanketed in snow and led Chris and other neighbors to not only snowblow their driveways, but the actual roadway as well. The city plow didn't find its way down Cam's street until 8pm that evening. And yes, that is Chris, wearing shorts and a sweatshirt as snow flies in the air.

With three days off of school, Cam kept his parents busy, both inside and out.
Sledding and being in the wintry outdoors is an activity that Cameron can't seem to get enough of!
The deep snow and cold temperatures didn't deter this boy from wanting to be outside, however, not in shorts!!

Hot Tub & Helicopter - Week of Jan. 24th

There are many home remedies that people recommend to treat colds...but have you ever heard of hanging out in the hot tub? It certainly received a positive vote from Cameron, who enjoyed some tubbing with his Dad one late afternoon. Cam even has that look on his face as if he and Chris are definitely 'getting away with something.'
The boys splashed and played for awhile and when Jane walked out to ask if they were ready for some warm towels, the response was an emphatic "no," with a smile.

From hot tubs to helicopters, Cam's week couldn't get much better!
A special delivery arrived also aiding in combating a cold...a new toy for Cam (and Chris!). The remote-controlled helicopter was quite a hit. The only household member unsure about the new contraption was Stella, the cat.

Some may believe that 'feeding a cold' is the way to recovery. To test that theory, Grandma and Cameron whipped up a delicious batch of rice krispie treats. Grandma is such a great cook and baker and Cam loves everything she makes- especially, anything sweet.

The best part of cooking with Grandma...she lets you lick the spoon, even if it's an extra large one!

Cam's Big Boy Bed - Week of Jan. 17th

There is a saying...."The common cold, if left untreated, lasts about two weeks. If treated with medication and rest, it lasts about fourteen days." In Cameron's case, it seems to have come and gone for a few weeks.

Chris and Jane have been following standard protocol, making certain that their son is drinking plenty of liquids!

Cam has had to adapt to many different things and a conversion of his bedroom was no exception. In late December, his room transformed to a big boy bed, dresser and blanket chest. Cameron is shown here standing in front of the chest where he gets dressed.

He does like to pick out his own clothes, but sometimes needs a little assistance matching the outfit...thanks to his Mom!
Cam's bed contains many of his favorite animals, including Elmo. The cozy blanket was made by his godmother, 'Auntie' Jo and it is the cuddliest covering ever.

Although Cameron's parents were a little apprehensive about him adjusting to the new sleeping arrangements, Cam handled it like a champ. The only surprise one morning was finding the big boy standing at the side of his bed, still sleeping with his head on the mattress. Some mornings, it's tough to get out of bed...well, actually, all the way out of bed, in Cam's case...
